Looking for Swimming Lessons in Madison?

For most parents, having their children learn how to swim is a high priority. For years MSCR has met this need by providing swim lessons and open swims for the public at the 5 indoor facilities owned and operated by Madison Metropolitan School District, plus our summer outdoor pool site.

Goodman Aquatic Center (at Camp Shalom, Verona-SUMMER ONLY) Please note this is NOT the Goodman Pool in Downtown Madison!

Through an inter-agency agreement with the Jewish Community Council and MSCR, programs are also offered during the summer only at the Goodman Aquatic Center, 7762 West Highway PD. Teens, adults and senior adults can also take swim lessons or receive private lessons. Come see the beautiful natural setting of this outdoor pool with water play features.

What types of lesson programs does MSCR offer?

Before You Swim!

General Policies Regarding All Aquatic Programs. Please Read!

Locker room attendants are not on duty, however, locker room checks will be made periodically by aquatic staff. Youth who are 6 years of age or older must use the appropriate locker room. Please remain in the locker room until your class time. Pool staff will announce when it is time to enter the pool area.

What to bring? Participants must bring their own suits, locks and towels. Patrons are allowed to bring towels and bags to the spectator area. MSCR is not responsible for any lost or damaged articles. Showers must be taken before swimming and long hair must be restrained. NO FOOD OR DRINKS are permitted in the pool area. An adult must accompany spectators under the age of 12 on the pool deck and in bleacher area at all times. Please plan accordingly.

NO street shoes or strollers allowed on the pool deck. We recommend swimmers and spectators wear clean water shoes or sandals.

Pool temperatures and maintenance are regulated by the School District maintenance departments not MSCR. Requests have been made for varying swim water and air temperature. Due to various activities in the swimming pool, the maintenance department is making every attempt to maintain the High School water temperature at 79°.

This may be cold for some swimmers so we recommend wearing a swim cap and/or clean T-shirt. Lapham pool is 88°. In the event that a class day is cancelled due to maintenance problems, a free one-time swim pass will be issued.
