AmeriCorps Member Positions-Middle School (5, open until filled)
Positions are part of the Partners for After School Success (PASS) Americorp Project that includes members in after school programs throughout Dane County. AmeriCorps members will work in Madison School and Community Recreation (MSCR) Middle or High School after school programs. AmeriCorps members will focus on tutoring middle and high school students, organizing and implementing community services projects, and helping provide safe spaces for youth. Relevant training opportunities will be provided. Members commit to working 1700 hours between September 2nd, 2008 and August 31st 2009. Benefits to being an AmeriCorps member include: helping youth, significantly impacting the community, receiving free professional development and youth work training, building your resume, and taking part in something larger than oneself. Hours will vary based on programs and may include some nights and weekends.Compensation: Members receive a stipend of $356 (after taxes) every two weeks, health insurance, child care, $75 training stipend, and a $4725 education award (upon successful completion of the 1700 hours). Youth Resource Centers Program Leaders (20+)
$10.40/hr Sept. 08 – May 09
Afterschool Youth Resource Center Program Leaders are needed for the 08/09 school year. Staff will work in after school homework clubs, enrichment clubs and recreational drop in programs. Hours may include: Monday – Friday 2:30 – 5:30p.m. Fluency in Spanish and experience working with middle school-age youth are a plus. Some schools are on the bus line. Middle School Clubs Specialized Club Leaders (15+)
$10.40/hr Sept. 08 – May 09. Dates and hours vary per assignment
Afterschool Club Leaders are needed for the 08/09 school year. Individuals are needed to teach enrichment and recreational clubs afterschool at MMSD middle schools. Club leaders needed for cooking clubs, chess clubs, drill and dance clubs, video production, canoe, ski and more. Days vary, but club leaders must be available between 2:30 – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. Fluency in Spanish and experience working with middle school-aged youth are a plus.
