Adult Volleyball Official – Recreational Leagues

Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is Madison’s public recreation provider. MSCR offers a wide variety of athletic, recreational, arts and enrichment activities and classes for all ages in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming instruction, MSCR on the Move, arts & enrichment classes, youth summer camps, sports camps & clinics, adult & 50+ fitness, adult sport leagues including pickleball, softball and tennis, and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including paddling sports, pontoon trips, camping, orienteering and challenge courses.

As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), MSCR also provides afterschool enrichment activities, clubs and sports as well as summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools, Allied Learning Center and Meadowood Neighborhood Center. Afterschool clubs and sports include: arts & enrichment, homework/academic clubs, drama, dance, skiing, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country and much more!

Program Description: 

MSCR offers a variety of sports leagues for adults each season. Volleyball leagues play several nights per week at various gyms throughout Madison. There are two 7-week seasons and one 5-week season of volleyball leagues: October-November, January-February, March-April. More information can be found at mscrsportsleagues.org

Job Description & Duties: 

• Officiate games according to NFHS and local rules.
• Maintain a recreational and fun environment for all league players.
• Exhibit great customer service, professionalism, and respect for teams, as well as an understanding of the sport.

Start Date: 9/28/26

Work Location: Memorial, West and LaFollette HS – Can list preference

  • Hours a Week:

    3.5-10 hours per week

  • Work Hours:

    7:00-10:00pm (up to three matches per night)

  • Pay Rate:

    $24 – $29 per match

  • Minimum Qualifications:

    • Must be at least 18 years old.
    • No prior experience is required.
    • Basic knowledge of volleyball play and rules.
    • Must attend new officials training and pass a rules test with a score of 75% or better.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience officiating in other leagues.
    • Understanding of NFHS Volleyball rules and regulations.
    • CPR certification is a plus
