Free Mobile Recreation Events

Get ready to play, Madison! Mobile Madison is rolling out the fun across our amazing neighborhoods! We’re a super cool crew of organizations teaming up to bring free activities right to you, getting everyone hyped for the summer season ahead.

We’re all about working together to bring the good times to even more places, making sure the whole Madison community gets in on the action and has a blast!

Mission: Mobile Madison brings free, mobile activities to a multitude of Madison neighborhoods, prioritizing areas of limited access to resources in a collaborative effort. Member organizations work together to broaden the reach of our services to best benefit the Madison community.

Mobile Madison Partners

  • City of Madison Parks Sina Davis Movies In the Park​
    Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a free outdoor movie with Madison Parks!
  • Dane County Waste + Renewables -Trash Lab was created in 2021 in collaboration with the Madison Children’s Museum to encourage individuals of all ages to rethink our relationship with waste, protect our environment and redesign our production and waste systems. Visitors to the Trash Lab can connect with information about Dane County’s landfill design, recycling and renewable energy programs through interactive and imaginative learning stations.
  • Fishmobile – Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
    The Fishmobile is a trailer stocked with fishing gear and activities that brings educational opportunities of Wisconsin’s aquatic resources and angling opportunities closer to you! Keep an eye out for the fishmobile at parks on Madison lakes this summer. Anglers 16 and older must have a fishing licenses.
  • Play and Learn
    Play and Learn is a free program for families with children from 0-5 to learn early math,
    literacy and social skills through play.

    Discover the world of clay through hands-on experiences! Clay on the Move is a free mobile pottery program offering handbuilding and potters’ wheel opportunities for community members of all ages in the Madison Metropolitan School District.
  • MSCR Play on the Move
    Play on the Move is a free, drop-in mobile play program for the community in the Madison Metropolitan School District. Our van brings unique play equipment for organized games, physical activities, and free play that encourages imagination and interactive learning experiences.
  • MSCR & MMOCA Art Cart
    Creative outdoor art making experiences to children ages 3+ and their families.
  • MSCR Outdoors on the Move
    Outdoor Programs on the Move is a free, drop-in mobile program that provides nature kits to complete with help from an adult. Each kit features a different theme, such as ‘insects’ or ‘wildlife’ and includes all the materials needed for fun and educational activities to be done on location.
  • Madison Reading Project Big Red Reading Bus
    The Reading Bus is Madison Reading Project’s mobile book giving service. Children and
    families can access free, high quality books and literacy resources.
  • Madison Public Library & Dane County Library Service Dream Bus
    The Dream Bus brings mobile library service to Madison neighborhoods. Get a library card,
    check out a book, or use our wifi!
  • Madison Children’s Museum Roadshow
    The Madison Children’s Museum Roadshow brings mobile exhibits and maker activities to community events in Madison and the surrounding area. Create a miniature work of art to take home and get inventive with creative fort and structure building activities.
