What is the Meadowood Neighborhood Center?

MSCR operates Meadowood Neighborhood Center in collaboration with the City of Madison on Madison’s southwest side, in the Meadowood Shopping Center. The purpose of the Meadowood Neighborhood Center is to provide a safe, supervised place for youth during afterschool and evening hours, for neighbors to socialize, and space for MSCR programs such as arts, fitness and much more.

Meadowood offers a variety of programs for all ages –  afterschool programs, storytelling, computer lab, fitness, art and more.

MSCR Meadowood Neighborhood Center to Host A Series of Black History Month Events

Madison, WI – The MSCR Meadowood Neighborhood Center, 5740 Raymond Rd, is hosting a variety of free and exciting events in honor of Black History Month. These inspiring events are open to the public and begin on Saturday, February 7.

“This year’s celebrations at Meadowood focus on the holistic experience—honoring the past through education and supporting our future through wellness,” said A’Kia Croom-Ausler, MSCR Meadowood Neighborhood Center Assistant Director. “Events like Black History Month Paint & Sip and our student-led afterschool presentations allow us to invest in our community’s health and knowledge, while our fashion show and soul food dinner provide the perfect opportunity for joy and connection.

Meadowood Black History Month Events:

  • Black Heroes Night (Private – MSCR Meadowood Afterschool Participants Only) Friday, February 6
    Students and staff in the Afterschool program  present about the Black heroes they studied followed with snacks.
  • Paint & Sip Saturday, February 7, 1-3pm
    Event for ages 18+. Sip mocktails and learn to paint with Instructor Ms. Aiyana to create a Black History inspired painting. Register
  • Black Wellness Day (Private – MSCR Meadowood Afterschool Participants Only) Friday, February 13
    Join Tauri Robinson, Meadowood Neighborhood Center Director and staff to focus and learn about  wellness activities.
  • Fashion Show & Pop-up Friday, February 20, 5-7pm
    Ages 18+.Features Black fashions of various decades modeled by Meadowood staff. Enjoy snacks and learn about different multicultural resources.
  • BHM Community Celebration & Soul Food Dinner
    Friday, February 27,  5-6:30pm
    Close out the month of celebrations with performances from the MSCR afterschool participants and community members while enjoying a soul food meal together.

Monday – Friday: 9 am – 2 pm: Printing, copies and faxes.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 6 pm – 8 pm. Printing, copies, faxes and groups/classes.
Saturday: 11 am – 3 pm: Printing, copies, faxes and groups/classes.

Afterschool School Year: Monday – Friday afterschool

September 3, 2025 – June 10, 2026

The afterschool program provides a safe and welcoming environment filled with activities like media arts, crafts, sports, games, nature explorations and special events. We welcome students from Orchard Ridge Elementary (ORE), Toki Middle School, and other neighboring schools, serving those in grades 1-10.

Elementary Program (Grades K-5))

  • Monday: 2:05-6pm
  • Tuesday – Friday: 3:30-6pm

Middle/High School Program (Grades 6-10)

  • Monday: 2:50-6pm
  • Tuesday – Thursday: 4:30-8pm
  • Friday: 4:30-6pm

Program does not operate on holidays or No School Days.

Summer 2026

Create unforgettable memories for youth in grades 1-10 who live in the Meadowood neighborhood. Get ready for a jam-packed program of fun, friends and discovery. Dive into creative arts & crafts, master new sports skills, explore the wonders of nature and embark on thrilling field trips! Our safe and welcoming
environment is the perfect place to make new friends and try new things. No programs July 3, 2026.

Grades 6-10: June 22 – August 14, Monday & Friday, 12-5:30pm, Tuesday-Thursday, 12-8pm

Volunteering

Volunteers Needed

MSCR at the Meadowood Neighborhood Center offers a food pantry every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The pantry needs volunteers to help distribute food, unpack food, clean and organize the pantry area.  A brief online volunteer application must be completed (see additional instructions at bottom of page). Food Pantry Volunteers Needed!

The Meadowood Neighborhood Center started offering a senior food pantry every Thursday. We need volunteers to help distribute food to seniors wanting pantry items.

The shifts would be 10:45am – 12:30pm, Thursdays. Please click on the sign up genius if you are able to volunteer. A brief Volunteer Application must be completed.
