MSCR Fee Assistance Policy

Providing accessible public recreation to the community priority is a pillar of MSCR’s mission, as such we offer Fee Assistance for all programs.

  • To request fee assistance, please complete the form below and answer each item as appropriate. The Fee Assistance Request form and partial payment (if applicable) must accompany the MSCR Registration Form. Fee assistance is not granted after the MSCR Registration Form is processed. Fee assistance is not available during online registration.
  • Fee assistance is available only to residents of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD).
  • Non-residents do not qualify for fee assistance.
  • Fee assistance is provided to families whose income is less than 185% of the Federal Poverty Level. MSCR youth program fees may be partially or fully waived for youth meeting the criteria for free or reduced price school meals.

Fee Assistance Policies

Adults

Fee assistance is limited to per adult per program session. Participants are required to pay 50 percent towards the program fee. If you need additional assistance, please indicate on the Fee Assistance Form.

Youth

Fee assistance is limited to two programs per program season for youth ages 17 and under*. There are three program seasons per year: Winter & Spring, Summer and Fall.
Families are requested to pay what they can towards the program fee. If you need additional assistance, please request this on the Fee Assistance Form.

If a participant misses two days in the first week of a camp, or the first two class meetings, parents/participants will be notified that lack of attendance means the participant will be un-enrolled and lose his/her spot in the MSCR program. Fee Assistance is non-transferable.

Camp Compass Information

Camp Policies on Fee Assistance

  • Fee assistance is limited to two per session per person (i.e. 2 weeks of summer camp) and is available only for MMSD residents. If your family needs fee assistance for more than two sessions, please indicate on the Fee Assistance Request Form. Please apply for Fee Assistance as soon as possible. Fee assistance is not available online and must be submitted to our office at the time of registration; fee assistance is not granted after the registration has been processed.
  • If requesting fee assistance for Camp Compass programs, guardians must apply for Dane County Childcare Assistance and then provide written documentation of the County’s decision before MSCR approves fee assistance request. Please see details below.

CAMP COMPASS ONLY

If requesting fee assistance for Camp Compass, families must apply for Wisconsin Shares child care assistance and provide written documentation of ineligibility before MSCR approves fee assistance and registers your child. Prior to submitting the MSCR Registration Form, you must complete the following steps:

1. Go the access.wi.gov to check for your eligibility for Wisconsin Shares Child Care subsidy.

2. Click on the link “Am I Eligible?”

3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Next” to start the process.

4. Provide all the information requested

a.) If the Result Page shows that you may not be able to get Child Care Assistance, print the Result Page and submit with your Registration Form and Fee Assistance Request Form.  b.) If the Result Page shows that you may be able to get Child Care Assistance, then click on “Apply for Benefits” to initiate our child care application or contact the Dane County Capital Call Center at 1-888-794-5556 to apply by phone.
