T’ai Chi or Qigong Instructor

Program Description: 

Deliver high-quality, community-based T’ai Chi or Qigong classes. MSCR provides a variety of programs that promote the social and physical development for people of all ages, however these T’ai Chi classes have an emphasis on those who are 50 years old and better.

Job Description & Duties: 

  • Teach Group T’ai Chi or Qigong classes as scheduled, providing modifications to accommodate varying fitness levels.
  • Understand contraindicated exercises providing a safe and effective approach to exercise
  • Maintain industry certification in good standing and meet continuing education requirements
  • Ensure arrival time allows for proper set up so that class begins on time, ends on time and that area is cleaned up after class
  • Report any equipment needs, or broken equipment needing repair to supervisor immediately following class
  • Demonstrate accountability to schedule by avoiding missed classes and seek substitute instructors in advance
  • Provide a fun and engaging experience for the participants.

  • Hours a Week:

    1-3 hours per week

  • Work Hours:
    • Mornings, afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends
  • Pay Rate:

    $25.00 – 31.00 /hour

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • 1 or more years of T’ai Chi experience is required
    • CPR/AED Certification (or ability to obtain in 45 days)
    • Knowledge of MSCR programs and mission
    • Keep certifications current and remain in good standing with certifying organizations
    • Reliable transportation.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Previous experience in delivering fitness solutions in a group format with a diversity of backgrounds and goals
    • Must possess excellent interpersonal and motivation skills
    • Must possess effective cueing skills and the ability to be flexible and multi-task.
